I am a former professional basketball player. As such, I am always down for a game. This is why I often gather scientists and staff members to spend some good time on a court. Many good scientific ideas came out of these sessions…
I grew up in a fairly poor neighborhood in Napoli and I am the first graduate of my family (up to the three-hop neighborhood of my family tree!!!), thus I deeply appreciate the intrinsic value of education. For this reason, I spent more than 5 years in Quarticciolo, one of the poorest places in Rome, teaching, crying, and laughing together with all the kids of the neighborhood, surrounded by an amazing group of people fighting for the same goal. I would love to build or be part of something similar here in Boston, let me know if you can help!
